This is Day 57 of the Positive 100, a countdown to Rare Disease Day 2014 and an exercise in being positive despite it all.
Ah, to be a conqueror. Tasting sweet victory. It doesn’t matter how big or small the victory is; they all matter. Some victories involve taking back your body from disease. Sometimes you need to conquer fear. Other times it is a big client meeting. Or learning a new skill.
It might sound silly, but this year, I conquered the macaron. A notoriously finicky French pastry/cookie. This has nothing to do with my disease. Nothing to do with my food allergies. But it had everything to do with sugar and confidence. That’s why it was important.
I conquered something just for me, on my own terms. And that is pretty dang awesome.
