This is Day 56 of the Positive 100, a countdown to Rare Disease Day 2014 and an exercise in being positive despite it all.

We’ve heard all the cliches about stars a gazillion times. And that is precisely why it is a theme in this series. You can have stars in your eyes. You can reach for the stars. You can shoot for the moon, miss and land amongst them. You can wish upon a star. The sight of them can make you dream.

We can only see the beauty in the stars when the light fades away. They are powerless until the sun kisses the horizon good night, but then they dance and shimmer across the sky. Lanterns lighting the night, just like hope in the darkest of times.
