This is Day 65 of the Positive 100, a countdown to Rare Disease Day 2014 and an exercise in being positive despite it all.
Desire. It can refer to people and emotions or things. And for the most part it is a good thing. When you desire something, you can work towards having it. Maybe that means saving up for new shoes or putting money in a jar for a dream vacation. Maybe it is finally telling someone how you feel. Desire can bring out the best in us. And indulging those desires can be sweet.
See those fancy pants shoes? I wanted a pair for ages. I swore up and down that my first paycheck from my first big kid job was going to get spent on a pair. Then I found out what it was like to be a grown up. Every time I got a bonus or started a new job, I told myself a pair of designer shoes was in my future. Finally, a year ago, I splurged on the perfect pair of size 40 1/2 nude patent 100mm heeled Christian Louboutins.
I think I will always desire nice things. Those red soled beauties would love a friend in the closet. But no matter how much I desire them, I will wait until the moment is right again.
Is it weird that I desire shoes most of all?
