If you have been on Frannycakes at all in the past 6 months, you know that I was presenting at a blogging conference called Nourished. I had been looking forward to it ever since I heard out that my application to be a speaker had been accepted.
And I have to let everyone know, I am truly humbled by the response to my presentation and my blog. That many of you had heard of me before (awesome!) was just icing on the cake. Every person who stopped me to thank me just made my year.
Nourished is an experience I will gladly participate in again (the next conference will be in Dallas in the fall of 2013). I am very glad that I was able to share my expertise with you – the better any of our blogs are, the better the journey for someone else will be.
I got to learn about recipe development from Karen Morgan (and she signed a copy of her cookbook to me), I had the opportunity to learn more about food writing from Dianne Jacob (the woman who wrote the book on food writing), I got to learn about making my story compelling to the media from Silvana NardoneΒ and Cybele Pascale, I learned about brand partnerships from Lauren Lucille and Schar. And every attendee had a story about what brought them to blogging. There were 100 amazing and inspiring attendees.
Now, to gloat a little – my session had the most attendees outside of the sessions that everyone attended. (Hooray!) There is a need for bloggers to embrace branding – to be a stronger presence online. I had laughs when there were supposed to be laughs and I had several thoughtful questions. I couldn’t have asked for a better audience. And I really hope that everyone got something out of it.
I also had everyone write a thank you note. It was part of the section on being authentic. We all need to take a moment to remember to thank those who helped us or helped pave the way for us.
I put together a list of the resources that I mentioned in my presentation. A written overview of the blog branding presentation will be available on the blog for my day job (I’ll let you know once I have written it) and you can download the PDF version of my slide show.
So to all of you who came to my session, thank you!
Mary Fran, Thanks so much for your comment on my blog! I was so sorry that I didn’t make it to your session as well. I kept hoping our paths would cross at other times during the conference, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I heard that your talk was terrific and would love to meet you some time!
Oh–I tried to download the slide show, but a box popped up that said the file is damaged and couldn’t be repaired–don’t know if that’s a glitch with my own computer (which is very ancient) or not. Would love to see the slides if they’re available!

Ricki, we will meet next time!
Try the slideshow again, I can’t replicate the error on any of my computers (I tried it on 3 different machines), it does require Adobe Reader 6 or newer (current version is 10 I think).
Hopefully it works (or I can email it to you!)
I loved getting to meet you in person! Everyone, Mary Fran is a fabulous resource for gluten free, so enjoy!
Thanks for all your kind words! It means a lot coming from you!
Great post Nourished Food Blogger Conference wrap-up! It was so great to meet you Mary Fran & way to rock out your session girl!

Also, yay for finally getting to meet! I love meeting new bloggers in general, but it’s an extra special when they are from Chicago.
