Day 48 : Direction | Positive 100 | Chronic Positivity Project

Day 48: Direction

This is Day 48 of the Positive 100, a countdown to Rare Disease Day 2014 and an exercise in being positive despite it all.

Where are you going? Are you off on an adventure? Are you off to see the wizard?

Having a direction is incredibly important, and something it is so easy to lose sight of when you are suffering from a chronic illness. Day 47 : Peace | Positive 100 | Chronic Positivity Project

Day 47: Peace

This is Day 47 of the Positive 100, a countdown to Rare Disease Day 2014 and an exercise in being positive despite it all.

Peace. Inner peace. Peaceful days. World peace.

This post is about finding peace, mostly because world peace is not something I can conquer on my own, but finding peace is a hectic day is.

And I do want world peace | Miss Congeniality

I often keep busy. I cook, I design, I knit. When my brain is so full, I start going through facebook and instagram. If I can’t think straight, scrolling is just enough distraction. But it doesn’t leave a lot of time to be peaceful. Restful.

I am not sure I have a lot of wisdom to bestow when it comes to trying to make sure that you find time to be peaceful, because it is something I always struggle with. Maybe all I need is the hypnotic motions of knitting or the muscle memory of the kitchen to be at peace. Or maybe peace is curling up with curious little lady (Cecelia the Cat) at the end of the day.

What I do know is that I need to be mindful. I need to take the time to find peace.

Day 45 : Roots | Positive 100 | Chronic Positivity Project

Day 45: Roots

This is Day 45 of the Positive 100, a countdown to Rare Disease Day 2014 and an exercise in being positive despite it all.

Where you come from is a huge part of who you are and where you are going. They are the color of your hair, the crooked way you smile and your taste for corned beef and cabbage. They are the friends you couldn’t bear to lose and the family you turn to when you need them. They are the stories of your mom and your crazy aunts when they were in college, you know, in the stone age.

Your roots keep you grounded and give you strong footing, even if they can be a mangled mess of love and fear, hope and loss.

Day 44 : Hero | Positive 100 | Chronic Positivity Project

Day 44: Hero

This is Day 44 of the Positive 100, a countdown to Rare Disease Day 2014 and an exercise in being positive despite it all.

Heroes. There is a lot of meaning wrapped up in that word. Significance and weight that cannot be avoided. Entymologically, the word comes from the Greek and is a word for an illustrious fighter, often a demigod, on a quest. These days you don’t have to live up to mythical expectations to be a hero or be the star of a legend to take the name.  Read more
